Participation in this course meets the recommended best practices for continuing directors education prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

This Is a 4-hour program that guides Board directors on performing effective oversight over IT investment, operations, digital transformation, AI initiatives, cybersecurity risk management, and IT outsourcing / managed services–in the form of creation of policies, setting performance standards, requiring submission of measures to monitor technology activites–to optimize investment and minimize risk.

This program guides the business owners (the CEO, COO, and heads of verticals), the CIO/CTO (and data governance officer, cybersecurity risk officer, AI leader) on how the board will evaluate proposals for IT investments, on the return on investments that the Board will require, and on general board governance.

Unlike technical CIO/CTO courses that focus on operational management, this program helps technology and management leaders to be responsive to board governance over IT investment and risk.

Romeo Fernando Aquino, Jr., GICD

He is a Principal of Aquino Consulting Associates and President of Caronelle Development Corporation. He has been an ADB consultant and is an independent director for RBSilay, the chair of Risk Committee.

Jojo has a Project Management Professional certification, has spent most of his career in banking and technology. He led technology for an insurance firm, led a telco outsource technology operations firm, managed a software subsidiary in Hong Kong, was offshoring consultant in the U.S., and led enterprise transformation in a shared service center.

Jojo enjoys studying. He graduated MA Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He reskilled himself in machine learning/neural networks in 2019/2020.

He has been an ICD speaker for strategic IT governance, cybersecurity governance, and digital transformation.

Carmelo Alcala, FICD

He has more than 35 years in the IT, Audit, Risk and Compliance workspace. He is the Director for MIS, Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit and Data Protection Officer for Visaya KPO Corp. At the same time, he has independent directorships in 5 SEC-registered companies. He is also the Vice Chairperson of ICD’s Technology Governance Committee. An ICD Teaching Fellow on CG, Audit and Risk, IT Governance, Digital Transformation, Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Sustainability Development. He is an ESG-Certified Board Director. An APMG-certified Global Trainer on IS Audit, Data Protection and AI Audit and an AI Auditor.

Armand Cacacho, FICD

He is a technology strategist, entrepreneur, and corporate governance leader with over 17 years of experience in Silicon Valley. He is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, a Licensed Professional Engineer in the United States, and has completed executive and postgraduate programs at Stanford University, Harvard Business School, and Singularity University.

He previously served as Director of URS Corporation, Vice Chairman of an AECOM legacy joint venture, and External Consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton. Mr. Cacacho currently advises technology startups in the United States, Australia, and Sweden, and serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Philippines and a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) USA and the Singapore Institute of Directors.
