Professional Directors Program
Participation in this course meets the recommended best practice for the orientation of directors prescribed in the Revised Corporation Code of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Boards have the primary responsibility of leading any institution or organization. The Institute of Corporate Directors flagship course, the Professional Directors Program (PDP), trains and orients both incumbent and aspiring directors in the role of boards and members of boards in the governance of their respective establishments.
PDP provides directors with tools to create value for the corporation and helps them become catalysts for transformative change both in their organizations and the society they live in.
ICD taps highly-experienced and internationally-trained individuals, from its roster of teaching fellows, to facilitate the sessions. Highly-interactive learning sessions with ICD's Teaching Fellows, who draw from real-life boardroom experiences during discussions, will ensure that the sessions enrich participants.
The Professional Directors Program consists of five modules that opens with the Corporate Governance Orientation Program (Module 1), to be followed by the significant responsibilities of board directors namely: Strategy (Module 2), Policy (Module 3), Board Oversight (Module 4), and Accountability (Module 5).
Corporate Governance Orientation Program (CGOP) covers the basic principles, importance and benefits of modern corporate governance (CG). Global, regional, local initiatives and reform in the field
of CG will be presented during the discussion, along with regulatory updates, best practices, emerging risks and trends, and the continuing relevance of adopting good corporate governance principles and methodologies.

Rex C. Drilon II has been known in the business sector as a “turnaround expert”, resurrecting distressed companies and producing extraordinary growth from profitable ones. Since 1978, he has been occupying top management positions and directorships of various large Philippine companies including FMMC, Fuji Xerox, Jardine, Ayala Land and Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership (OCLP).
He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Keyland Corporation and YLD, Inc, and recently retired after 10 years as Independent Director in the Metrobank Group.
Aside from his remarkable expertise in turning around companies, Mr. Drilon is a living example of one who has found balance between work and life outside work. He is deeply involved in the public governance and corporate governance reform advocacies as Chairman of the Center for Excellence in Governance (CEG), of the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD). He is an active member of the Shareholders Association of the Philippines, Management Association of the Philippines and Founding President and Board Adviser of the Iloilo Economic Development Foundation. He has written a book entitled “Patriots on the Street”, a novel about governance, patriotism and love of country. He is about to publish his second book “Crafting Your Own Roadmap: A Personal Governance Handbook”.

Mr. Gomez is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of the rural bank – GM Bank of Luzon, Inc. He is a Former President of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines. His other directorships are with DES Holdings Corp., Gen. De Jesus College, and GM Cycle. He is also a Trustee of Finex Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Inc.
Gomez is a Teaching Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is a graduate of BS in Business and Economics at Notre Dame de Namur University, MBA from the University of the Philippines, and has completed executive courses from Harvard Business School, and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management

A Fellow since 2007 and trustee since 2015, Atty. Maniego is the chairman of the Fellows, Strategic Execution Pathway and Golf Committees. He is also a member of the Consulting Group and represents ICD in the Judicial Reform Initiative as trustee.
Atty. Maniego is recognized locally and internationally as a leading advocate and expert in the fields of renewable energy, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation/adaptation. He has served as a resource person in multinational conferences and workshops in these fields, and represented the country in business missions to the USA, UK, EU and ASEAN. He is currently chairman of the Energy Lawyers Association of the Philippines, UP Barkada Inc. and Secure Arms Guns and Ammo Inc.; Senior Policy Advisor of the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, Energy Adviser of the Climate Change Commission, director of Armscor Global Defense Inc., and Of-Counsel of Dime and Eviota Law Firm.
Atty. Maniego holds degrees in B.S.Industrial Engineering (graduating at the top his class), and Bachelor of Laws (consistent Dean’s lister & ranked 12th in his batch), both from the University of the Philippines; he completed post-graduate studies in management, economics and engineering in the Asian Institute of Management, University of the Philippines, University of Asia & the Pacific, Federation of Korean Industries, Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft of Germany. He is a certified graduate of Kaplan and Norton’s Balanced Scorecard, Renewables Academy of Berlin, and Climate Reality Project.
Dr. Montes is an Independent Directors of Rizal Commercial Bank Corporation (RCBC) wherein he chairs the Risk Oversight Committee. He is a Founding Fellow and Trustee of Foundation for Economic Freedom. He is also a Trustee of Parents for Education Foundation, and Chairman and President of PAREF Southridge School for Boys.
Dr. Montes has extensive experience in the finance and banking industry. He was a Director at the Development Bank of the Philippines, Director and Head of Philippine Public Sector, Citibank N.A. He also served as an ADB National Consultant to the NEDA Public Private Partnerships (PPP) Center on risk management, and previously to the Bureau of Treasury on the management of PPP contingent liabilities.
Dr. Montes earned his doctoral degree on Business Economics, Wharton Doctoral Programs at the University of Pennsylvania. He took his bachelors degree in Economics at the Ateneo De Manila University.
