How board diversity impacts business
Foreword:
Maria Aurora “Boots” Geotina-Garcia, Vice-Chair & President of ICD (Institute of Corporate Directors Philippines) and Monette Hamlin, Chair of the ICD Committee on Board Diversity, and Inclusion, discuss the importance of diversity in the board room during their interview with Rick Hizon’s late-night news program, “The Final Word” on CNN Philippines.
The results of the study on “Board Diversity at Philippine Publicly-Listed Companies” was cited in their interview, where it had shown that Publicly-Listed Companies who had women on their boards performed better during the pandemic, compared to those who had none.
The results of the study were made available to the public through ICD’s website on May 2, 2023 and on August 15, 2023 , ICD officially launched the results of the study through the “Building Better Boards Through Diversity” event in Discovery Primea, Makati.
Guests online and onsite engaged ICD regarding the study, and speakers from the SID (Singapore Institute of Directors) and ICDM (Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia) were also present to discuss their own experiences in addressing board diversity.
